Good news for phone fanatics

For the first time, a local telecommunication company, Etisalcom Bahrain, launched yesterday a prepaid calling card exclusively for the Arab countries. The card, More Arabiya, has been launched to cater for the high traffic between Bahrain and other countries in the region, Rashid Al Snan, company's chief executive officer, said at the Press conference yesterday.

He said the card uses sophisticated ANI technology (automatic number identification – caller ID) which is a definite advantage for the consumer. "Now our customers do not have to go through the hassle of entering scratch numbers every time they make a call.

"The ANI feature allows them to enter the scratch number only once, and then they are ready to go until they exhaust their credit. " MORE Arabiya comes with a recharge facility allowing the consumer to recharge his or her phone by entering the scratch number just once.

"The separate recharge number comes for both English- and Arabic- speaking customers, and this one-time top-up facility makes it easy and convenient for the user," said Al Snan.

The card can be used to make instant international calls from any MTC or Batelco fixed or mobile phones. This way, the consumer can actually save on their huge bills for international calls, he said. The card can be used for calls out of Bahrain to Algeria, the Comoros Islands, Djibouti, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Malta, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, the UAE, Yemen and other countries.

The card comes in BD 2 and BD 5 denominations.
